I am accredited as a Gestalt Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I work therapeurically with whatever you feel needs attention. My approach in long-term psychotherapy encourages a deep relational connection which supports healing the unfinished business from the past. Equally I am willing to engage in shorter-term work on more immediate issues. I have conducted therapy with many students who are studying on the local Gestalt counselling HE diploma. My clients come from a variety of backgrounds and have varying needs.
I offer clinical supervision for therapists and others working with counselling skills; currently with an organisation that looks after adults rescued from trafficking.
I am also an experienced trainer, having led Personal and Professional groups on Counselling courses, and taught on many theoretical and professional subjects in a number of colleges and universities. I have led the Trauma module on a local BA in Counselling course, and am currently taking this work forward training in trauma, domestic and sexual violence for other organisations and therapists. I have run a number of successfull workshops for UKAHPP on accreditation, and on setting up and maintaining a private practice.
My professional background is in public service (Probation) which gives me an understanding of legal and mental health issues. Other recent training includes working for the EU as a short-term expert on risk assessment, parole systems and setting up services for victims of crime, in particular sexual and domestic violence. I have delivered workshops and personal development groups.
I practise ethically utilising regular clinical supervision, personal therapy and continuing professional development.
