The award of Member Emeritus can be made to a nominated member acknowledged to have made exceptional contributions to Humanistic psychology over an extensive period of time.
These contributions would have profoundly benefited people in counselling, psychotherapy and the allied fields of creative therapies, educational and organisational professions. While these contributions may well be visible through publications, a well known practice or position, at times it may well be far less visible, as in the person who is recognised as a long term container, source of inspiration or guiding spirit of an organisation without displaying an obvious profile.
Procedure
Anyone in or connected to UKAHPP can nominate. The nominator and seconder will submit a written statement with their reasons and evidence for the nomination. The nomination would then be presented to a panel consisting of a Board member, a MAC and an Ethics committee member, one or two general members, and, possibly, a respected lay member.
The nominated member would be contacted by the Board and asked if they are willing to be considered for the award of Member Emeritus.
A person could be nominated at any time but selection would only be made once every two years.
The award would be made at an AGM and be represented with an appropriate certificate.
