Hello everyone. Why not come along for two hours of enjoyable CPD every quarter?

We are a small group of members and we meet roughly quarterly on Saturday mornings, in Kettering. As well as discussing our organisation’s business, we also arrange speakers and paper discussions to enrich our practice and share interests, knowledge and experience together

Kettering Regional Group Meeting Dates 2016

21st May: Paper Discussion

A Gestalt Therapy Approach to Shame and Self-Righteousness: Theory and Methods. Richard G. Erskine (Ref: British Gestalt Journal 1995 Vol.4 No.2) Papers will be emailed to you as a PDF attachment prior to the meeting.

8th October: Guest Speaker – Karen Burgess, founder of Petals Charity

Sadly, every day 17 parents in the UK are grief-stricken by the tragic loss of their babies. Hundreds more suffer complications and miscarriage of their pregnancy. This results in many parents struggling to cope with grief, trauma, depression, fear, anger, frustration and resentment. Petals charity provides a specialised counselling service at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, as well as in Queen Charlottes and St Mary’s Hospitals in London.

3rd December: Presentation – Judy Aitkens “I didn’t mean to do it!”

How often do our clients say these words when they have accidentally done something they bitterly regret? The same goes for those unfortunate people who unintentionally cause someone to die due to their mistake. There is little help specifically tailored to this particular type of trauma and the research literature is puny to help educate us in this difficult subject. We can help people learn to live with their terrible mistakes if first we understand the problems they face. This presentation will cover some of the feelings and responses associated with this type of trauma and the discussion period which follows will help us better understand how we can support these devastated clients.

The meetings take place in Kettering from 10.00 to 12.00 on Saturday mornings.

Don’t forget that these meetings count as two hours of (free to AHPP members) CPD! We hope to welcome some of you to the group.
