I describe myself as an integrative body-oriented psychotherapist. I work with individuals over short or longer periods of time depending on what each client requires. I like the idea that we are all able to grow, develop and learn if we are given the right conditions and the positive regard of others: I encourage my clients to find their own way of being in the world and support them to explore attitudes and beliefs which create obstacles to growth. I sometimes work outdoors with clients, supervisees and groups.
I am interested in bringing together a variety of theories, philosophies and spiritual traditons and look for the common ground in all our experience.
I am also a senior accredited member of BACP and registered as a psychotherapist with UKCP.
Training, Qualifications and Experience
Over a twenty year period, I have trained in a broad range of approaches and thinking, initially in person-centred theory and most recently in the field of body psychotherapy. I have undertaken specialist training in trauma work and biodynamic massage amongst other things. I have been supervised by senior practitioners in the field for a long time and consider these relationships the true ground of my learning. I have also engaged in personal therapy over long periods of time and understand the position of the client as well as that of the therapist. In addition to my private practice, I supervise trainee and qualified therapists in training organisations and charites and i teach on the Masters programme at Minster Centre.
