UKAHPP Guidance on Advertising

 

UKAHPP members are required to:

  • Provide in their advertising, and on request, a clear and honest statement of the qualifications relevant to their field of practice and their UKCP registration, and advertise their services accurately and in a responsible and professional manner, without exaggeration.
  • Ensure that the use of titles such as “Doctor/DR” and initials after a name in communications are: accurate; indicate whether it is a medical or academic qualification; and reasonably inform the public of their relevance to the practice of psychotherapy.
  • Not make any claims which they cannot demonstrate to be true or include testimonials from clients in any advertising.
  • Not include in their advertising any client selection criteria that discriminate against clients with protected characteristics.
  • Not intentionally mislead a client or the general public about the type or nature of psychotherapy practised.
